I'm sure the HVAC staff is entirely competent, but they never got to my house. Three hours after the scheduled appointment time - delays happen, I understand - I got a call from their secretary saying they were refusing to work on my house. Not sure why, frankly I don't care. But they wasted my day.

I came home to an unlocked backdoor and deep puddles all over my basement with broken glass in them. Noticed the glass was from my boiler's pressure gauge. The plumber knocked the glass out and just left it there. On top of that he left my washer disconnected. I had called to have my faulty backflow preventer boiler and charging system replaced so I could obtain and maintain pressure in my radiators. The plumber decided to ignore that and somehow spend two hours charging my boiler with my old leaky garden hose because he didn't want to go back to his truck for his own. When I finished cleaning up after him and called to relay my displeasure, they sent him back to replace the glass, fired him, and sent me a bill for the two hours and a pressure gauge. When I called to relay further displeasure with their unbelievable incompetence, they removed the pressure gauge from my bill. Not surprisingly, the pressure is low again now. Since the charging system was ignored I got a new hose and did the same job in about half an hour. I'll be calling a difdeent plumber to repipe my boiler and put radiant heat in my bathroom floor this summer. I recommend you do likewise.

Our 22 yr. old water heater had given up the proverbial ghost. I called Shubitz Plumbing & Heating literally 5 min. after they opened on a Friday morning. I was informed that a tech. would be at my home within an hour; this was a surprise as we had experienced a snow storm the night prior that had laid down a cover of over 8" of snow. Not only was our tech. punctual (he arrived 5 min. early) he was also expeditious, friendly and professional in all his interactions and work. He not only completed his requested task in less than two hours; he also addressed and fixed our leaky tub faucet! I not only highly recommend Shubitz Plumbing & Heating: I shall utilize them for my every future plumbing and heating needs!

The owner was very nice to work with at first however his ethics in being a fair an honest professional are non existent. After receiving an estimate for some work to be performed (which was written as a one line item very general scope of work) I had him perform the work in assumption it being a Time and Materials job. This was based on requesting that he give me the worst case scenario estimate so I can make sure I have enough money to cover the cost. Myself not knowing the extent of the damage trusted him as the expert to be an honest professional and to supply me with an as accurate as possible estimate, then square up the difference once the work was complete. Instead the owner did what turned out to be a very simple one day job and insisted it was a bid job (in which he estimated extremely high knowing I was unaware of the extent of the problem) told me tough luck and I owed him the full amount of the estimate. The work ,in which I trusted to be treated fairly given he is supposed to be a professional, at his T&M rates would have been half of what he was charging me. When I asked for a itemized invoice and some justification to his gross over charge, he simply said you could have gone somewhere else and that's just how it works I agreed to his price no matter how simple the work turns out for him.
