Shannon D was refunded her service call cost. The manufacturer did remove any service labor warranty from her unit. It was explained to Ms. D several times if it was not a manufactured defect and an issue with the installation from the installing plumber. They would have to pay for our services.

No showed the appointment. I called to ask where the repairman is. Receptionist said she'll check. Never heard anything back. Called home Depot and it was repaired within 70 mins of my call.

I don't believe it's asking too much to be told there is a $165 charge whether any work is done or not . We had to replace a water heater in 2017 due to corrosion. When we saw the fittings were turning blue again, I called and sent pictures to Rheem. They sent out new dielectric fittings and the name of guy to replace them - all to be covered by our warranty. It should have been a red flag when I read the company name was just "Water Heater Specialist". I asked Rheem if the company who installed the water heater originally (Sunshine State Plumbing) could do it and they said they don't work with that company. A woman from "Water Heater Specialist" called and made an appointment. I was never told by Rheem or "Water Heater Specialist" there was any charge to come out much less $165. Maybe it was naive, but I had no idea companies come to your house, not do any work and then charge you over $100 for nothing more than looking at your problem. A guy came out in an unmarked white van, told me it wasn't corrosion ( I wouldn't know, it looks just like the corrosion we had on our last water heater and I sent pictures to Rheem), didn't replace the fittings and charged me $165. He was here 5-10 minutes and spent the bulk of his time here writing up my charge and calling the office with payment information. At this time, the only other review on Google for "Water Heater Specialist" is also a one star review and Yelp has only one star ratings for this company. I called the office manager for "Water Heater Specialist" afterwards to say it would have been nice to know ahead of time there would be a charge. She blamed me. Nice, like I said, I didn't know companies charged just for looking at something, so I didn't even know to ask. That would have been good information to have when she made the appointment. UPDATE: I called Rheem to complain about not being told there would be a charge just for coming out. They contacted this company and I was reimbursed the $165, but now I now longer have the labor warranty on my water heater.
