Mike Scott Plumbing In Ocala

Called Mike Scott Plumbing back in February about a leak coming from a pipe in the water heater. They sent a "plumber" out, who within 10 seconds of entering my garage said I needed a new water heater. I have a bit of experience with plumbing work and knew the issue could be repaired without replacing the water heater. The "plumber" said its either $700+ to replace the water heater, or $85 for his service call. I sent him on his way without signing paperwork and told his manager to call me. No call from a manager. I called and left 2 messages for a manager to call me back. No return calls. (1) No one disclosed any "trip charge" or "service fees" or the amount they would be, and (2) I had a neighbor fix the issue within 15 minutes (without replacing the water heater). This "plumber" shows up at 4:45 an seemingly didn't feel like doing repair work, only quoting a replacement price. Manager never called back. Fast forward six months later; I received a letter asking for payment or they are sending to collections. There are much more trustworthy and honest plumbers to use in Ocala and Marion County. These guys are not it.

Called Mike Scott plumbing after 5 pm on a friday, they gave me an estimated time, they showed up and delivered a great service after hours! High recommend them, worth every penny!

When I call was asked multiple questions that I replied "No" to and instead of sending someone to the house a septic pump truck was sent - we were billed; was not the problem - septic tank was not pumped, just dug up the yard and cut my bushes. Then another person was sent; billed again. Don't recommend at all.

Inexperienced and a waste of money. Almost convinced me to replace my 1925 cast iron tub because of a leak another plumber was able to fix with epoxy putty. We first had someone out to quote us on the leak- $180 later he tells us what's wrong. The person who comes to fix it $280 later tells us it's something else and that we need to replace our original 1925 tub. Additionally he said he could not fix a backwards hot and cold valve-- 3 days later I have a retired plumber come as a favor and he was so appalled we paid $460 for 2 bad visits in something he fixed with putty. He was also able to just flip the cartridge on hot and cold to fix the backwards temperatures. We will never call Mike Scott plumbing again. $500 and time wasted.

They try to scam an elderly lady into spending $1000 on a hot water heater that only need need a $30 Heater element. Basically they are mechanics that try to sell you an engine when you only need sparkplugs. Do let get scammed - call anyone else.
