During a carpet removal/install we discovered that a loud creak in the upstairs bedroom was going to require more than a few floor screws. Found Handyman Connection on the Internet and checked out some of the reviews, most of which were overwhelmingly positive. They sent out Patrick, the same day I called, to give an estimate. The estimate was fair and Patrick had the tools to find the wood structure underneath, open up the exact right section the floor, fix that loud creak as well as find and fix a number of different smaller ones. All this while we stood and watched as well as listened to what he was doing, except during the operation of a power saw. Overall it was a very good, instructive and friendly experience and I would highly recommend their service.
Daniel did a great job of replacing most of the house foundation vents to help keep the rats out. He also made a cover for the crawl space with hinges and a handle. It looks spiffy and is easy to use. He even set two rat traps to place in the space under the house for any rat that was trapped there. Great work. Timely done and very pleasant. Thank you Handyman and Daniel Anna Helton
A minimum of fuss: Monday I asked Handyman for someone to install a new kitchen sink faucet. Nestor suggested I pick one out and buy it (which I did), and he made a Thursday appointment to install it. Nathan showed up Thursday, had me agree to an estimate for the labor, and efficiently installed it. And now I don't have to walk to the bathroom sink to get the faucet to shut off easily. Thanks!
I had problems with electrical outlet. Devices would make noise anything that is plugged into them. A person named Ronny came to fix the issue. He said outlets/sockets were the problem. He replaced all of them. The problem still persist. Now they are saying the problem needs troubleshooting and they need more money. When I ask them what did replacing outlets solve? They have no answers. I recommend not to use their service.
This was the worst experience we’ve had with a service provider. We scheduled them to paint our front door based on their decent reviews. The craftswoman they sent wasn’t mentioned in any review but I was open-minded about that. She was late both for the estimate and the job. To be fair, she was very pleasant and worked hard. I noticed that a couple of things she said didn’t quite match up to what her boss, Nestor, had told me, but I let that go. She did a fairly good job on the door though she missed a few areas. All that was fine - what was not fine was the fact that she dumped a lot of paint in the garage sink and it backed up. She then denied it though I sent pics showing the paint. I have to say that though she did this, she was still very polite, which I appreciate. I then called Nestor (who had been extremely nice and accommodating in terms of scheduling initially) and he was absolutely rude and unprofessional. He talked over me all the time, said that the clog was because we had done prior work on the house. (That is ridiculous- the sink was clean and in perfect working order till the paint episode. The pics I sent them clearly showed it was paint coming up.). Then he tried to lecture me - I honestly don’t know why a paper pusher at a handyman franchise thinks he is in a position to educate me on life. He finally said he would “look into the matter to see if I was telling the truth”. Then I didn’t hear from him. When I asked him for the owner’s number, he responded politely that he was working on it but didn’t provide the number. Then silence again. He didn’t have any trouble scheduling a handyman at my convenience when he first took the job, so the sudden unavailability of handymen was puzzling. At this point, I asked my husband to take over as I really didn’t want to deal with this man again. Nestor then called 2 days later and said their craftsman could be here in an hour. As usual, his tone was condescending. We explained that we have jobs and meetings and couldn’t blow them off at an hour’s notice. At this point, he started talking over my husband again and became incredibly disrespectful. We’ve had enough and don’t want to deal with them again except through legal channels. The paint clog ( TOXIC SLUDGE) has spread to our bbq sink and we have no idea how much their screw-up will cost us. I’m going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and have our lawyer take this further. Any one can make a mistake but to not take responsibility and be obnoxious is unacceptable. To be completely fair, I doubt the owner, George, knows about this as Nestor wouldn’t give me his number. Stay clear of these guys. There are dozens of professional handymen in the Bay Area.
