This place has everything but sometimes it's too big for me so I will often go to Ace Hardware for easier things.
Always easy to find what you need
If I could leave less than a 1 star review I would. My experience still isn't over but I'm hoping this will help out others. First of all it's nearly impossible to find anyone for help around this place and if you do they don't even feel like they want to help you. But more importantly why I'm writing this is because I special ordered a door for our new home. Chris in the doors and window department helped me out. Nice guy and seemed very knowledgeable. I explained to him what I wanted and what I currently had. I couldn't afford to pay someone to install it so I'm emphasized this to Chris to make sure I can install the door myself. He advised me that the hinge placement of my door should be standard and that I should just double check the size of my door when I get home. So I did and it checked out. Time goes on (1 month) and my door is ready for pickup. Pick it up and get it home. First thing I notice when I get home is a big dent at the bottom of the door. I immediately call Home Depot to let them know and customer service tries to offer me $20 off to keep it. HA.. after saying no they let me know I'll get a call back. In the mean time I unwrapped the door to find that the hinges and door sweep were missing. When you think it couldn't get worse, I take measurements and the hinge placement and door lock set placement are completely different from what I have. Standard.. not. Chris from doors gives me a call to offer $100 to keep the dented door, although this was fair I had to say no since everything else about it was messed up after explaining to him. He then lets me know that I will get a call from the specialty manager. Couple days later I get a call from Sean the specialty manager, he is super understandable right from the beginning and lets me know that he will have a professional come out to measure, re-order the door, have it installed, and even talk about extra compensation once the door was installed. I was overly excited and he went beyond any expectations I had. Sean then calls me back the next day to explain that he didn't realize how much installation costs and that he would see what he can do.. great. From there I got no response over email for days. I then get a call from a Home Depot rep letting me know that I could re-order my door (which now costs more for some reason) and have it installed all for $600 odd some dollars. What the hell?? She then explains that they also refunded me without me knowing. This was nothing that was agreed upon and I told her to have Sean call me. Finally I get a call, this time Sean isn't as nice as he was last time. He explains to me that my story wasn't what he thought it was and after talking to Chris there were notes on my order that said we talked about hinge placement and that I should have measured those when I got home as well. Yes we did talk about hinge placement but I WAS NEVER TOLD TO MEASURE THEM. If I was told to then I would have. So all the sudden Sean had flipped it around on me and made it seem as though it was my fault and that my previous story was a lie. I'm pretty pissed at this point. So instead of covering installation he then tells me he can either give me $250 off installation or $300 off my replacement door. I told him that I couldn't afford to pay for installation and that the whole reason I ordered the door from them was that I was advised I could install it myself. After going back and forth with him about how he told me he would install it and took his word back, I finally opted for the $300 off the door but emphasized that they better make sure it fits. He said ok and would call me back after he talked to the guy who came out and measured our door. I then get a call from a guy named Richard, not Sean, and he tells me that I can re-order my door for $250 off, I explain to him that Sean just told me $300. He calls me back after talking to Sean and explains to me that Sean said the opposite. I requested to talk to the store manager. To this day, no call, no door, and Sean won't answer my emails.
Two Veterans couldn't have chosen a worse place to have flooring completed for a new home. We were looking to have our new house finally put into our names at the end of April 2017, so we started the flooring product search a few weeks ahead of that time to try and make things run a little more smoothly. We picked out carpet for the bedrooms and bamboo hardwood for the rest of the house. The woman at the flooring desk "Andi" gave us a rough estimate based on the flooring we chose and our general square footage which came out to around $12,000. She told us that this wouldn't be set in stone until someone came in person and measured each room. When that someone came out, it happened to be an unengaging, poorly motivated, and bad attitude-ridden young boy that quite obviously didn't care to be there. We walked him through every single room in order to ensure that we were getting what we wanted and he put everything into his tablet and left. Once the results showed up at the store we went to see Andi and finalized the purchase. The total came to about $19,000 and we were ready to get started. NOBODY EVER TOLD US THAT THE MEASUREMENTS WERE WRONG. We waited weeks for everything to be ordered and the entire install was only supposed to take a week. The first day JW Floor Covering (Home Depot's subcontractor) showed up, they told us that they have carpet for the entire upper floor of our home. I let them finish the bottom floor and consulted home depot as to why everything was wrong. They reordered the correct flooring and charged us an extra $2300 for everything, but made sure we knew that we could discuss compensation when the entire job was finished. Months went by, we hadn't fully moved into our new home yet, and our newborn baby was residing in a construction zone because we had no other choice... When JW came back for the second half they left holes in my walls that I could fit my entire hand into and felt that was a job well done. We demanded that this get fixed and they made it right, courtesy of VICTORIA the manager, by getting all new baseboards for the entire house and covering up all of the holes. These new baseboards cost a total of $1400 and JW FLOOR COVERING PICKED UP THE COST. Subcontractors are NOT the contractors which in this case is home depot and that is whom we placed our order and were paying to have a job done correctly. Upon speaking to the store manager NICHOLAS BRADLEY about our compensation, he told us that the measurements were based on what WE said and that "HOLES IN THE WALLS ARE TO BE EXPECTED WITH EVERY INSTALLATION." Over half a year later, September 2017, and they only want to comp $800 because we should be grateful for new baseboards. We already paid for baseboards when we bought all of the original flooring, those were a replacement based on the damages that were going to need fixing REGARDLESS. However, we will not be paying for a measurement screw up that wasn't the fault of our own. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE... they take NO pride in their work and will do ANYTHING to screw you out of as much money as possible. This business is a joke and the people working here could care less about you and the quality you'd like your family HOME to resemble. Still fighting for our money!
