Through our letting agent, In Charge Electrical provided a quote for the repair of a built-in oven (only 3 years old) in a rental property. The appliance was not heating, but the fan still worked. The obvious conclusion was that the element had gone. In Charge's assessment was that the oven was not repairable, but that they could install a new one at a cost of £357.60. When I challenged this through the agent, I was told "The contractors said that with it being the element, they don’t replace these as they can’t offer a guarantee, and would recommend replacing". I subsequently received a quote from another contractor to replace the element for £95.68.
