I contacted Unicorn about a fault with my Combi boiler. I was told directly over the phone without inspection what is wrong with it, disregarding what I'd found out after a number of hours researching the fault on the internet against other people with the very same symptoms. I was not convinced but took up the offer for a free visit and quote. They were nice enough to drop by out of office hours and upon arrival, I was told once again what is wrong with it. The boiler was not inspected at all (I wasn't even asked to demonstrate the issue despite being next to the boiler the entire time) before the conclusion was made. They took a "might as well do it" attitude to what I believe is the cause of the fault and offered to do it at the same time. I was quoted an estimated price for the repair having been told multiple times that obtaining the parts would be more expensive (even at their trade price) than if I got them myself due to the time and fuel the engineer would have to use. Not only did I dislike what was said here, but the way it was stated came over as if giving this company a fault to fix was a major inconvenience (probably because I didn't want a new boiler off of them.. the fact I was asked twice if I would buy a new boiler was also irritating). After reluctantly accepting the estimate, I was told I would be contacted the following day with a proper quote that would include the parts (and their fuel and time, naturally) and labour for the job. I was not contacted. It would appear that my issue was indeed too much of an inconvenience and should I be contacted next week, I will refuse the work. Due to the experience I've had with this company, I will not be recommending them to anyone. In fact, I will actively advise against contacting them to anyone seeking recommendations for boiler repairs. Edit: They appear to be liars too, as they certainly didn't tell me they didn't want to undertake the repair during the visit or any time after as they state in their reply to this review; I never heard from them again. Nice attempt to save face though.
Had repairs on 2 occasions. Entire shower unit done after the last persons work lasted less than 6 months and repairs to toilet systems and cannot complain with service infact its better than we hoped for giving the previous 2 attempts to resolve the issue. Thank yoy.
