Check Point Plbg Htg & Gas

Absolutely horrible experience, DO NOT call these guys unless you have a brand-new fireplace, and probably not even then. Called them in for an annual maintenance and cleaning on our two gas fireplaces, and as soon as the technician saw the units he threw his hands up and must have told us 5 or 6 times: "oh these are REALLY old, I don't know if I can do ANYTHING with these" and would exclaim and gasp every 2 or 3 minutes when inspecting them. It was comical and evolved into unpleasant; we couldn't wait to get him out of our house. After 20 minutes (and close to $100) he left without servicing them, told us we needed to replace them both, and then gave us the name of someone who could sell us new ones. Had someone else in, he contradicted all the nonsense we were told, said we probably got scammed, then serviced both and they are now running perfectly. Dodged a $10,000 bullet. I'd call this a classic bait-and-switch but I'm giving Check Point the benefit of the doubt, probably due to a misplaced belief in human honesty.

I highly recommend this company. This morning I called them as the furnace wouldn't start and it was a cold spell. Beth arranged Ken to leave a job and come to help me. He arrived and immediately realized that I had turned the furnace off, instead of on, this morning. Blame old age! He was very kind to me and didn't make me feel like the dummy I was. He spent time explaining how to properly use my thermostat (do not turn it off at night but just reduce temperature). Kent is a nice gentlemen and very funny too! He left without charging me a cent. If you use this company you will be in safe hands and receive excellent service. Give them a try and you'll see.
