The guys at JL plumbing started the job right after the quote and knew the city bylaws very well. I am glad we hired them for our basement apartment Reno. They were on time and very knowledgeable. Definitely would hire them again.
I used their services 3 times. Each time the work has been completed faster (under 1 hr each time) but they still bill me for 1.5 hrs. Last time they took about 30 min and still billed me for 1.5 hrs. I've been calling them to discuss the bill and left several messages with receptionist but THEY WON'T even return calls. I will never use them again. If you do hire them, pay very close attention to their timing and billing.
Same experience as Hugo. Be very careful about their timing and billing. Was billed for an hour for 30 mins of work where the contractor showed up 20 mins late (while I took off work to meet them) and talked on a phone for half the time they were supposed to be working. I would avoid if I had reasonable alternatives.
I'll add my two cents to these reviews. We had Jim-L replace our power vent hot water heater with a direct vent tank three years ago. It is completely silent, great install, problem free. Hired them again two months ago to replace our bath tub. Perfect install, even with the added challenge of the plumbers having to take out a row of floor tile first, to make sure the bathtub was level and not sitting on a floor that could never be replaced again. (I'm not a fan of built up floors. There were already three different layers of flooring there.) They use a call service to manage calls, and seem very busy - it took 6 weeks to get our invoice after the install. That could be a minus if you're impatient, but we hired them for the plumbing. The price was as expected based on the estimate. The plumbers are great but work fast. They will try to protect floors, etc. as they go, but supplying some of your own drop cloths is a good idea.
I had a very bad experience with JimL Plumbing today.A cartridge needed replacement in the basement laundry sink. The plumber went away for 1hour to buy a cartridge -from one end of Guelph to the other- coming back saying he didn't find the right part so he has to change the whole faucet. After 1 hour away he worked for 50 minutes to fix the faucet. He said I will have to pay for his time away because he can't load his truck with parts for the" needs of the whole city". He is charging 80 $/hour to be away.Nice I would like to get paid for doing nothing just like him.
