would recommend to a friend based on the friendly interaction I had today. No reason to say anything bad, that's for sure. Thanks!
We had a pipe burst in our basement and had our water shut off as a result. Cullen Plumbing and Heating was able to come to our home within 30 minutes of when I called, and the work was completed in a very timely manner. The plumber also explained to us what he thought happened and gave us tips for the future. If I ever need a plumber again I will be calling Cullen Plumbing and Heating.
To Robert Riley...just curious...did they charge you a travelling fee? Three weeks ago I had an emergency and called Cullen. The man who answered the phone told me it was going to cost over 200 dollars since it was a Saturday night. I didn't want to go the whole weekend with no water and wait till Monday to find out the damage in the basement ceiling (toilet leaked upstairs and it rained in the basement) so I said well I guess that's the price. He asked me for my address and when I told him he said, I have a travelling fee of 15 dollars. ?? I live in the city, not in the outskirts. He made it sound like it was a great inconvenience to do his job. The reason I called Cullen was because their ad stated "Emergency service". He didn't seem to care at all. I told him to forget about it. Clearly he didn't want to take the job and gave reasons why I should call someone else. Which I did...M&J Plumbing were amazing! When I called my insurance and the contractors came over and assessed the damage they asked if I called a plumber. I told them what Cullen said about the fee and the travelling cost and how he asked if I could wait till Monday. The contractors were surprised and shook their heads. They told me to call M&J and within 30 minutes M&J plumber was in the bathroom fixing the cause of the leak. They were friendly and did the job. I do not recommend Cullen. Try M&J...you won't be disappointed.
VERY pleased, and happy that I called Cullen. I bought a new dishwasher and needed that installed -- the old one disconnected and pulled out, and the new one put in and connected. I received quotes from a low of $110 from a "TV Repair Clinic" recommended by Leons staff who tell me that the tv repair people have "started to do dishwasher installs," up to $225 from Doyle Plumbing. The week prior Doyle had quoted $185. When asked to explain the difference in price from the previous week they said they like to quote the highest possible "just in case." Subsequently I've been told that, among other things, Doyle plumbers work on commission, and their prices reflect that. While they may not charge emergency call service fees, as they indicate, they more than make up for that in their high base price. I called a 3rd plumber, whom I can't remember at the moment but it was a listed professional plumber, who said it would be AT LEAST $200 and the job takes a minimum of 2 - 3 hours, and can take up to 5 hours. I found that PARTICULARLY odd given that the saleswoman at Leons told me she and her husband recently bought a new dishwasher and installed in themselves in less than an hour with her reading the instructions and her husband carrying out the installation tasks. So, I called Cullen on Christmas Eve Day. I was surprised that they said they would come THAT day! I was even more surprised when there was a knock at the door, and there was the plumber, less than 15 minutes after I called! He was great. The job was completed in a little less than an hour, and total bill WITH tax was $130. I was also pleased that the plumber identified that the breaker for the dishwasher was broken, creating a potential fire hazard, so I have subsequently had an electrician repair that. A week later I called Cullen again to install a new bathroom tap and fix a leaking shower. Again, excellent professional service, and the same hourly rate as for the dishwasher install. I'll be having them back a THIRD time in the near future to install a new water heater. At $22/month for the current rental that works out to $2200.00 in ten years. Water heater rental companies rely on the fear factor ... "what if it leaks?" or "what if it breaks?" First off, if it leaks I'll clean up the water and call to get it fixed just like I would otherwise (whether I call a plumber or the rental company). If it breaks, I'll replace it. I've never, in all my life, had a water heater leak or break. For $2200 every ten years I could replace the tank every 5 years, if I had to (which of course will NOT be necessary), and STILL be ahead of the game!
Quick and friendly service. They found and fixed my drain problem in no time! I don't want to need plumbing services again too soon, but if I do, this is who I'm calling.
