I was quoted one price for a sink repair, billed much more (think $80 estimate and $130 bill, somewhere in that range), then informed by the owner, Ken Buczak, that since I hadn’t talked to him directly, I was on the hook for the higher cost. I clarified, “Your own employee who answers the phones isn’t qualified to quote service charges?” and he said, “You didn’t talk to me, so you owe us $130.” When I asked how I could possibly have known this and suggested that it was illegal, he offered to see me in small-claims court. I didn’t take him up on it over $50, but I was furious. This was several years ago, and I’m still angry. I’ve never been ripped off that flagrantly before (or since), and I get angry all over again every time I see their storefront. I’m sorry to see other reviews here reporting similarly shady practices from Verona Plumbing & Glass, but based on my own experience, I’m not surprised.
Great customer service from Joyce and Ken. We have had fast quality service, and when parts broke Joyce and Ken did everything to make sure the warranty was honored by such companies as Kohler and Bemis. They stepped in when they did not have to, and this extra step was truly appreciated.
Hired for a very small commercial job. DID NOT GO WELL. The service tech turned a 10 job into a 5 weeks. Excuses every day - Blamed the owner for taking him off the Job all the time. The owner then said to they were just to busy. Employee showed up 4 times and just left do to family emergencies. Used a zip tie for support and when I confronted the owner his response is he doesn't use zip tie's? There was no oversight no supervisor visiting the site. All invoices for hours were invented after detail was requested to say the least it took awhile and added cost to us for no reason other than bad organization and false invoices. RUN
Try to scam you, showed up without correct supplies to do a roughed in water softner (not like it was a surprise this is what we booked so why he did not have correct stuff?!) and had to run back to office which is 5 minutes away didn't come back for 45 min then was here from 8:30 to 10. We got the bill and was charged for 3 hrs of labor when he was only here for 1.5 hrs called and got the run around they tried to charge us for the 45 minutes he left for?! He could have went to breakfast for all I know?! Then tried to say 30 minutes travel time as well 1st of all the charge says Labor not travel 2nd we live 5 minutes away from office how is there 30 min it only takes 10 min to drive through whole town?! TERRIBLE do your research we were trying to hire local after looking at other people's stories are similar for over charging!!
Received an estimate on a dishwasher install for 200-350. Ok sounds good. After 2 weeks of calling and trying to figure out when they would come they finally did the work. The work looks good so no complaints there. A week later we received our bill for the work... open up the letter and I almost had a heart attack from shock. They billed us for $712 dollars! $712 dollars I couldn’t believe it. We received this bill on a Tuesday and after calling every day of the week we could not get an answer from the person in charge as to why our bill was so high. We were told he was out of office or something else. The next week we were able to finally speak to the person in charge. We were then told that they ran into more work than they previously expected... So instead of calling and notifying us of this they went ahead with the work and gave us a bill for triple the estimated amount. After informing them of how shady of a business practice this was they agreed to lower the bill. $500 For the job... On a 200-350 estimate. I’ve done my share and had my share of contractor work completed and I’ve never seen a business continue with work knowing they would be billing their customer triple the quoted price without calling them first. Very shady business practice that puts you as a consumer against the wall with no place to turn. Be warned, I wish I’d have been.
