Beware of extra fees once Rick shows up! Lakeside was recommended on a few websites so I gave Lakeside a call. Rick was prompt at getting back to me and scheduled for the following week. He indicated the price would be $475 plus tax. He never mentioned additional fees to pump a secondary tank nor to break up solids on the phone. Rick does not even open our septic lids and says I should always have the second tank pumped at the same time for sediment. Says that will cost $200 in addition. Then says he may need to use a tool to break up solids and that may be extra but never says how much. I said more than once, once you open the lids and take a look let me know. Needless to say, I leave to run kids to soccer camp and 45 minutes later he tells my husband that I agreed to an additional $250 for the extra tank pump and $175 for him to break up the solids! So instead of $675 that I had agreed Rick charged us a total of $950 for less than an hour of work not to mention I had not agreed to $250 nor to the $175. I would think the breaking up of solids would be included in a septic pump. I gave Lakeside two stars because when I called Rick and called him on the fact I had not agreed to the charges he said I did, he offered to refund me $200. Almost a $1,000 for a routine septic pump seems outrageous especially when the quote was for $475 over the phone.

Initially, I was impressed with how promptly Rick got back to me when I sent him a message. We made the appointment for a week out. He even called to confirm the day before. I was looking forward to working with someone with that type of response and work ethic. Then, Rick called to reschedule his appointment in the same hour that he was supposed to show up. He said his truck was "down". He also said he'd be leaving on vacation the next day and wouldn't be able to come back for at least a week, so I cancelled with him. You left me in a bind - not cool Rick.

Beware of extra fees - Rick said the charge would be $495 over the phone and didn’t mention any other fees in that conversation or any other. When he arrived, he said there would be another $150 charge to “break up solids”. Not knowing any better, I didn’t challenge it, but it only took him about 10 minutes to stir up the tank. It really seems like an unfair charge to me and something that should have been part of the regular service and if not at least disclosed before I scheduled the appointment. Other than that, the service was ok.

Rick with Lakeside Septic was able to help us in an emergency. He was professional, courteous and reasonable. He came out on a rainy Saturday and allowed the plumber to fix our problem. We highly recommend him to all our friends and family.
