I detest hyperbolic negative reviews, so I will simply state the facts. My water pressure had been getting worse over time, and was down to almost nothing. I called Yelm Plumbing because they’re local and they only charge $39 to come out and give an estimate, while most other companies charge between $150-225 or even $80 an hour for the same thing. The guy who came out was very professional, but basically did nothing except look at the pressure gauge, have me turn the breaker off and back on, note that the pressure fell when it was turned off, shake the tank and tell me it was empty and should be full, and go out back and look at the well cap. Then he told me my pump was running constantly (which I knew), the pump propellers were likely worn out, and that I needed a whole new system. He said the tank was probably ok, but I should replace it anyway because it was as old as the pump. Then he showed me an iPad with a very confusing estimate with different rates for “standard” or ”preferred”, which I took to mean I was supposedly getting some kind of break. The estimate was around $6600. Having heard pumps can cost up to $10k to replace, I thought that was at least better, though I still had no way to afford it. He said they do offer financing, and let me take a photo of his phone showing a picture of a phone number and some codes and other (again very confusing) info. He said to call that number and they would help me. I asked a friend for advice, and he said I should at least get some other estimates. Thank goodness I did! I called around to other places in the area, asking what they would charge for the same work. Most ranged from $3500 to $3800. Still out of reach, but almost half what Yelm Plumbing was asking. But they couldn’t come out for five days, and I was totally without water at this point. Finally I found a company that would come out that same day and do an estimate for $65. When he got there, he removed the control panel, tried a new one, checked all the wires for voltage, checked the connections in the pressure switch, checked the tank (which is SUPPOSED to be empty), took the cap off the well, pulled up the wires, checked those, and reached down to feel the pipe. After this thorough inspection, he gave me a clearly written estimate for a new Goulds pump, new pipe, new controller, and new pressure switch. The tank he said was fine, why replace it if it’s still working? Total estimate, $1600. They came out the next day and did the work. It turned out the top of my pump had snapped completely off due to torque. They replaced it and the other parts, and two hours later, I had water again. I watched the entire process, and they did a very efficient and professional job. In the end, my total was $1462, well under the estimate. So they saved me more than $5000 compared to Yelm Plumbing. Yelm Plumbing may do great work, I don’t know. But if you’re trying to save money, please don’t be drawn in like I was by the $39 service fee or the fact that they offer financing. At least call around and get other estimates. They seem to be one of the most expensive in the area, and they didn’t even do a thorough inspection. I had the same work done, at very good quality, for less than a quarter of what Yelm Plumbing charges. No matter how much better they might claim they are, they cannot justify charging $5000 more for the same work. Please do your research!
Yelm Plumbing & Pumps. Willy and Cory, I want to thank them very much, you two went and did more than anyone else would do for anybody. The job was very well done, they were very helpful, I look forward to calling them again if I need help with our pump to be serviced. Great job
After years of trimming my beard over the bathroom sink it happened...My bathroom sink clogged. Tried plunging it and even took off the "P" trap to make sure it was clear. Nothing. I called Yelm Plumbing and Pumps because my sister had used them and was very happy with the work they did for her, and set up an appointment that day. Now I live in Tacoma but that wasn't an issue...despite the name, they cover a lot of the Puget Sound Area The dispatcher was very nice and friendly when he called to let me know the tech was on the way. Willy and Fidel showed up and had my line cleared very quickly. They were great! they seemed to know more about my plumbing than I did. They even inspected my other drains to make sure I wasn't having any issues with them. They recommended some stuff to keep my drains clear (which I got). Very pleased by the whole experience. They were professional and friendly. Highly recommend them. Thanks again guys.
Willie and Josh were outstanding when they got here. They were professional and friendly. They answered all my questions and concerns. Wendy, who answered the phone was great. The price was lower than the other companies I contacted and they came out on a Sunday...the same day I called. Couldn't be more pleased.
Just called Yelm Plumbing and Pumps and asked if they could send someone out to look at my water well on my property . The nice lady asked for my address so she could look up to see if we were in her data base and then proceeds to cough in my ear . ok it is cold season . No harm no foul .Then she tells me that they want 40.00 up front to come out to my property . I tell her that we are a fee based management company and would have to send the 40.00 fee through bookkeeping. This was not exceptionable to her and she tells me I need to fill out a credit application . I thank her for her time and bid her good day . I have a small construction company myself , but I know for a fact that if I start charging for bids I will never get any work regardless of my reputation . Now here is my problem . This is a 15,00.00 to 20,000.00 job that they lost over 40.00 bucks I use local companies to give back to the community but I guess stepping over dollars to save dimes is there business model . Oh then I call Tims Well Drilling and ask them if they charge for bids and was informed they do not . Guess who is getting my business ?
