I was Charged $307 for cut and repair of copper drain pipe/firing but instead they installed a temporary patch with clamps that is $10 at Walmart. This is going to eventually fail on me and I will have to pay someone to have it fixed again. I called and emailed Saturday about my concerns. I asked for a manager to call me and did not get a call back. It’s a shame. Last year they were professional with the repairs I had. Edit 8-27-19. They never responded to my email. I never had a call come up on caller id from Benjamin Franklin. I had a text message from the technician that claimed that the repair was accurate but it did not address my concerns. Today they claim they donated to a charity rather than refund me the amount or do a proper repair.

Just a terrible experience all around. The drip pan on my water heater constantly had water in it after I replaced the elements. I presumed it was a faulty pressure release valve. I agreed to pay the "emergency" rate to have someone come out at 9 pm on a Sunday evening. The tech arrived promptly. He brought no tools, except for a knife, into the house and proceeded to unscrew the panels covering the elements with said knife, scratching the water heater in the process. No leaks there, so I was told that the water heater itself was cracked and needed to be replaced. The quote was for well over $1,000. The unit was under parts warranty, so I declined the service until I could speak with the manufacturer about the warranty. The tech pulls out his tablet to charge me for the call. Says there will be a 4% service charge for using a credit card, to which I agree. I then look at the bill on his tablet and he's got the 4% service charge (the emergency call was around $100) listed as a $40 charge. I tried to explain that this was a 40% fee and was incorrect, but he runs the "math" again and says the credit card fee is $40. I had to go grab a calculator and physically show him the numbers before he agreed to only charge $4. Imagine someone standing in your living room at 10 pm trying to charge you a 40% fee for using a credit card. Had I not been able to convince him that his math was wrong, I suppose I would have just paid the $40 extra and disputed the charge at a later date. In the end, the water heater had a faulty pressure relief valve ($15 part) and didn't need to be replaced after all. Rheem, the water heater manufacturer, had another plumbing service come out and fix the unit for a grand total of $35 (less than the "credit card fee"!) It has worked perfectly ever since. I called Benjamin Franklin 4 times to try and explain the situation and avail of their "100% Satisfaction Guarantee". Each time I was greeted amicably, told that they were aware of the issue, were reviewing it, and would call me back the next day. Not once did they call me back. So, in the end, I paid over $100 for a Benjamin Franklin plumber to scratch my water heater with a knife, incorrectly diagnose the problem, and demand a 40% service fee for using a credit card. I then tried to resolve the situation privately and was brushed off. My advice: Take your business elsewhere; at the very least, proceed with caution when using Benjamin Franklin. EDIT: This review did earn me a call from Benjamin Franklin, an apology, and a 100% refund. So the Customer Satisfaction Guarantee did work out in the end. I'm going to leave this review as is because it is how the events unfolded (and people shouldn't have to put a company on blast publicly to receive any sort of support). That said, the call and apology was much appreciated.
