They've be coming to my house on a frequent basis and charging a TON, and I'm very suspicious about whether they're putting in what they say they are. The sheer amount that they put in a very short period of time makes me and my wife wonder. I'm not there when they refuel, so I have no idea whether the amount they're putting in is accurate or not. On one occasion they did come when I was there, and they finished within a minute or two, and it was a massive amount of fuel invoice had. I was stunned at how much oil that had been added in such a rapid amount of time, especially given that they're refueled my home just a two o three weeks earlier. It makes me uncomfortable with the whole process. Unless I'm there and I can actually watch them add oil, I'm not comfortable. It cost me a fortune this winter in oil costs with them and I had the thermostat down really low. How did all this oil get used so quickly? Unless they're going to let me watch them refuel in the future, I think I'm going to move on. As Reagan once said, "Trust but verify." If I cant verify how much oil is being put in each time they fill it up, I'm not comfortable with this process. If you were refueling your car at a gas station, wouldn't you want to be able to verify what's being put in by the person that's pumping the gas?
Having a hard time understanding why a house that I don't live in, but am preparing to sell, and have turned off the heater in (and had the thermostat replaced, by them) has resulted in me paying almost $1500 in unsolicited oil deliveries since September 2018 (it is now Jan 8, 2019). I repeat, I do not actually live in this house, the thermostat is set to "off." My father died in July, and I'm getting reamed by the oil folks.
I don't even understand the "bad service" comments. It's actually the reason I stay with them ever since we have owned our home here. Started prior to buying, best price on my double-walled Roth tank, they installed - they have the best service manager in the business, Kevin. Dorothy who helps run that area is what every company needs and anyone who answers the phone has been perfect (shout out to Paula!). So, they might not be the cheapest oil and Propane (they are not), but I would rather pay, just a little more, and know I will get the best customer service. 12 years - perfect service, deliveries, emergency etc. I guess you get what you pay for and I choose my vendors wisely. With so many things that we have to think about nowadays, it's great to have an area in life when you can rely on the company to do exactly what they are supposed to do. Thanks!
Awful service and customer support! l found out carpenter and Smith sold to a new jersey company about a year or so ago! I had a maintenance plan, they came out last week to supposedly service the boiler, didn't do it correctly, which screwed up my heat, said I needed my chimney swept, sent some company called A1 chimney who said I need to replace my pipe it was blocked...well it wasn't and my chimney was fine but if I hadn't k own better they would have taken me for thousands of dollars! Beware of this company!!
Horrible organization. Extremely high prices and poor customer service. I was a customer for 19 years (uninterrupted), I recently had an issue with them (third issue within the last 3 years and gave them the benefit of the doubt on the first two) they were not able to assist...it was as if they didn't care. It is beyond me that an organization can operate in this fashion in this day and age. How are they in business?
