Excellent service!! Karl came over to provide and estimate. Being an engineer, I already took the wall plate off and removed the stem that was giving me problems with my shower. I was fully prepared to get an estimate for Jefferson to go through the back side of the wall (my daughter's bedroom) to access and replace the fixture (oh joy, I would get pay $$$ for the installation of a new fixture AND repair a wall). Long story short, Karl had a special tool to pop out the old cartridge. He asked if I want to replace the cartridge or the entire fixture. He actually asked me! No BS. I opted to replace the cartridge (he had a new cartridge on his truck). All done. No hole through my daughter's bedroom wall. No need for a new fixture. Just paid for a service call and the part. $150 all in. I can't recall the last time I paid just $150 for a contractor to come to my home AND fix the problem. A great experience! FYI we plan to do a lot of renovation work to our home in the next few years. Jefferson will definitely be a preferred contractor.

Jefferson saved me a ton of money on a difficult repair of an ancient bathtub faucet for which replacement parts were no longer made. I think of NC Jefferson as a high-end plumber, as a few years ago we used them to replace shower fixtures with premium diverter, shower head and handles, and they weren't cheap. But they identified a special issue a cheap plumber may have missed and did a good job. So I called them back for this job. Jeff W identified that the previous plumber who "fixed" it, a cheapo plumber hired through American Home Shield -- which you should never use, btw -- seemed to have shoved the old stem in place in a way that broke it. But the fixtures were so outdated, a new stem couldn't be found without replacing the diverter and everything else with a new system. So he managed to do a custom repair of the old stem -- the time for which he didn't charge me; he said he did it on his own time between other jobs -- and charged me just for the time he spent time removing it and installing the repaired stem. Then, after installing it, the other stem also turned out to be leaking. But it was so antiquated and poorly “repaired” a few years ago by the American Home Shield guy, the stem was stripped and couldn’t be removed. So he brought in another Jefferson employee, Pete, who happened to be nearby, to bring in another specialty tool and help to wrest it out without breaking it. The two of them worked on it with a variety of tools on both sides of the wall behind the fixture for about 45 minutes until they were able to complete a custom repair of the antiquated setup without replacing the whole system, which is what a normal plumber would have done. $238 for perhaps 4 man hours of labor, including the work Jeff did on his own time. Very impressed.
