I called with an issue with my well water not flowing and Mike let me know it would be a couple of days before he could make it out but didn't want to see me go without water if there was anything he could do to help. He spent a considerable amount of time on the phone walking through options and thanks to his guidance I had water flowing again in no time.

Hi. I just want to give you a heads-up about Marshall Plumbing, located in Dawsonville. They came to my place recently and charged me an arm and a leg just to replace a plastic flange in a toilet. Marshall didn’t charge to come out, but they charged $225 just to take the toilet up to see what was wrong. After they took up the toilet, they charged $179 to replace a plastic flange. The total was $404. Since their repairman was already there and I had to decide immediately, and it is difficult to arrange repair work being here part time, I told him to go ahead and replace the flange. (Otherwise, I’m out $225 just to find out that the flange was broken.) $404 seemed pretty pricey to me to replace a flange, but I didn’t realize how pricey until I looked online. Home Advisor stated that the whole job of replacing a flange should cost from $145 to $165. The flanges I saw online cost from $5 to $35, with most of them between $10 and $20. Marshall charged me $179 for a flange they probably buy en masse for $5 or $10. I called Marshall to complain and ask for something off. They offered $25 back, making it around $380, still over twice the average cost. I pushed back but that was the best they would do. Granted, they didn’t have to offer anything off, so I appreciate getting something back, but they still made a heck of a lot for a simple job. The last time I had a plumber out was around 12 years ago in Duluth to install a new toilet. (A plumber’s snake has saved a few calls.) The new toilet and installation cost around $250 to $300, which was at least $100 less than Marshall charged just to replace a flange. I figured prices had gone up since then, but I should have done my homework to get an idea. OTOH, I didn’t know what the problem was until they examined the toilet, at the cost of $225. I could have bought a new toilet and had it installed for less than Marshall charged just to replace a flange. Marshalls’s repairman did the work fine, but I recommend that you shop around and find a better deal – it shouldn’t be hard.
