If I could give them zero stars I would. My neighbor hired Bristol to dig up the old sanitary sewer main and replace it. I`m actually a pipefitter and have 25 years experience working on plumbing and piping. After talking to my victim neighbor I was shocked by the cost, workmanship and service. Yes, I called my neighbor a victim. There is no better term to describe her dealings with Bristol. They victimized them. They cut the clean out around 8 inches below the original grade. Then they graded down to it, leaving a 4 foot diameter low spot in her yard. The low spot is 4 feet away from her foundation/basement wall and about 8 inches deep. When it rains there will be ponding in that location. They did not tamp(compact) the fill dirt properly, so chances are the ponding water will follow the new fill that isn't as compacted as the surrounding soil, most likely causing a leak in her basement. They also broke her sidewalk by driving the backhoe over the portion of sidewalk that had been tunneled under. She called them about the grade and they came out did nothing other than grade down to the clean out and throw seed down. While excavating they pulled a tree root up and left it sticking 18 inches straight up out of the ground! When they finished the fill they had some extra dirt they just piled around a telephone pole and now its running down the sidewalk. That alone tells me how bad they were. Anybody who knows anything about filling an excavation knows you never have enough fill dirt if you fill it properly. So the extra dirt set off my alarm bells. The job cost her about double what it should have. It's a 40 foot run to the tie in point. They were probably slow at the time, it was mid winter and there were 4 men and an operator here for 2.5 days. The 4 "plumbers" mostly watched the excavator. Forty feet of PVC takes a day to run in poor conditions and that's with 2 guys. It should have been a three man job and should have been completed in 2 days tops. They also broke her main water feed to the house, so its possible they're trying to recover the losses by slacking on the grading and seeding. Either way there is no excuse. They double manned the job, double charged and did a horrendous job. When she told me what she paid I was absolutely shocked. There a lot of really great plumbers out there, its unfortunate that Bristol Plumbing made us all look bad.
