Mattex Heating, Cooling and Plumbing

Michael was our technician, and he did a great job with the repair. He explained what was wrong and had it fixed very quickly. Will use Mattex again when needed!!

We have had issues with both of our air and heat. Each and every time we have called them, they have been prompt, friendly, and dealt with the issue. I can't recommend them enough. Aaron in the Mattoon office is particularly very good!

My A/C stopped working so I called them Mattex based off of their online ratings. A very nice tech came out. He found that the insulation in the around the a coil had came detached and was covering 1/2 the a coil and he believed that the lack of airflow was causing it to freeze up. He corrected that issue, and the A/C was working when he left. Charged me $94, $79 of which was the service call. This was at 1pm. When my wife returned home from work, at about 4pm, it wasnt running again. I called them the next morning and they came back out. This time, he said that the circuit board was bad and needed to be replaced. He showed me where it was bad at and you could see it arcing on the back of the board. I was quoted $620 for the part to have it replaced. He also tried talking me into just upgrading the whole unit instead of spending the money on the part. They also charged me another service call of $79. What? The issue was not fixed or correctly diagnosed the first time they were there. He said that it was because there was another issue found. This absolutely peeved me off. That night, I took a pic of the circuit board with my phone, located the part number, and found the new circuit board online for $94. I paid Express Next day shipping of $41, and installed the part myself. A/C has been running fine ever since. So after giving them $179, I fixed the issue myself for $135, which is $44 less then what I had paid them to do nothing. They have also called me 2 times this week wanting to schedule a "Comfort Care Consultant" to come out to my home to try and sale me a new system. No inquires on the repairs, but to buy a new system. Shows that they only care about the Money, and not the customer in my opinion. I will NEVER use this business again, and will recommend to others who not to use.
