I'm usually pretty accommodating, but I've now had two bad experiences with their Home Installation services. On the first, we ordered a new front door. Of course, the required size was just a smidge off of standard so we required a custom door. That took several weeks to come in, after which it took another three weeks to get an install date on the calendar. Once the door arrived, it had a 1.5" scratch in the middle of the paint on the front of the door. The installer (hired out by Home Depot) made me aware of it when he arrived and offered to replace the door but informed me we'd be looking at another 4-5 week wait between remaking the door and setting up a new install. He did let me know that if I made the Home Depot aware of the issue that they would send me some paint to cover up the scratch and give me some money back. I did call the customer service line and the person I talked to obviously did not care at all about customer service. She heard my issue and basically said "so would you like us to send you some paint then?". No apologies and no money back. Only after I wrote a nastygram to the corporate customer service account did I get an apology and a $75 discount. Which brings us to install #2. Of course when we did install #1, the outer screen door no longer fit in the frame so new one was required. We decided to use the gift card towards that door. We haven't even gotten the door installed and we're having issues. After getting the measurements taken for the door (step 1 of the process), I was getting calls DAILY from them about coming in to order a door. It turns out there was a sale going on and they were trying to push me towards buying a door while the sale was on, but no one told me that. After a week and a half I finally made it in for what turned out to be the last day of the sale. Again, it took several weeks for the door to be made and then another several weeks once the door came in to get an install scheduled. Which brings us to today. The installation company called me yesterday to confirm the install time I had set several weeks ago (Wednesday at 8 am, installer to arrive between 8-9). I called them back yesterday afternoon and confirmed. Today at 9 am, I get a call that "due to a scheduling issue" they neglected to actually schedule an installer for my job, and they had no one working near my house today so they'd need to reschedule. The earliest they could get me in was now the middle of the day next Thursday. I made a point of letting them know that I'd had to take time off my job to be available for the install today, and took my time pulling up my work schedule to see if I could make arrangements for the new install date. I would expect an offer of some compensation or discount on my order for this screw up that was completely a mistake on their part. What did I get? An apology and a thank you for being accommodating of the date change. My advice on all of this is if you're looking to purchase something and get it installed, either hire your own professional, or take your business to Lowe's or Menard's. I can only imagine their crew and customer service on these matters has to be better.
I do not recommend this service. The customer service representative was extremely rude when I tried to set up an appointment. As a result I will not be using their service.
I don't leave a lot of reviews, especially bad ones, but I had to express how terrible my experience was with purchasing flooring at home depot and urge others to seek out other options. I purchased $5,500 worth of flooring from Home Depot in July, and it is September 14th and I have still not received the product I ordered. There is something seriously wrong with the team that does ordering and delivery. I have run into so many issues it's almost comical. First they never called me when the order was in to schedule the delivery, and because it was bamboo flooring and needs 72 hours in my place before the install, I had to push my install date out over a week. After that, they delivered the wrong flooring. I had to reorder and wait 7-10 business days for the new flooring to come in, and amazingly they didn't call me when it arrived and again scheduled the delivery on the install date. When I called the store to get an ETA on the time, they said from 10 am to 2pm. I asked for a more specific time and they said "very soon". It's been over an hour. Every time I call the store I wait to talk to someone and get transferred. On one occasion I asked to speak with a manager and after being put on hold over and over again they told me there where no managers in the store. They clearly don't care about you as a customer. Honestly if I wasn't so deep in this I would go to someone (anyone) else.
Recived good service
Home Depot went out of their way to ensure I received the product that I really needed in time. The store itself seems relatively low-key and not very busy which is great for me because lots of Associates are around ready to help!
